Tenure-Track Position in Physiology

Duties:

The chosen candidate will be engaged in teaching, research, and various administrative duties within the department and/or university, and will provide pedagogical guidance.

Requirements:

  • Hold a PhD in the biological sciences, physiology or a related discipline. At least two years of postdoctoral experience will be considered as a valuable asset.

Experience:

  • The Department of Medical Biology seeks applications for a full-time tenure-track professor position in physiology, more specifically in cellular and molecular physiology. The professor’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching undergraduate and graduate classes, supervising graduate students, pursuing research, publishing and networking with others in the field, as well as handling administrative duties.
  • The candidate must have an excellent ability to engage in university teaching of the highest quality. In particular, he will be requested to design new courses in human physiology to meet the demands of our bachelor’s program in Medical Biology, and contribute to the training of health professionals in chiropractic, nursing, podiatry, midwife, occupational therapy and medicine. In addition, he will develop a highly competitive and independent research program, and secure external funding from diverse sources. The candidate is expected to establish dynamic collaborations with professors in the department, as well as with other colleagues working in related fields at UQTR in order to build multidisciplinary teams. The department will provide resources in terms of programs of study and research infrastructure, which will enable the successful candidate to quickly recruit and engage high-calibre graduate students and fully develop his research. The Cell Signaling Research Group (GRSC) at UQTR conducts diverse and complementary research in comparative physiology, cell signaling, reproductive physiology and endocrinology, mitochondrial physiology, stem cells, development and plasticity of the nervous system.

Starting date: June 1, 2021, or as agreed upon with the University

Compensation: Per the faculty collective agreement.
