Position Details
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Lethbridge invites applications for a tenure-track position in any area of Biochemistry. This appointment will be at the Assistant Professor rank.
Minimum qualifications include a doctoral degree and postdoctoral experience.The successful candidate will be expected to mount an externally funded research program that includes undergraduate and graduate students and will also teach core courses in the Biochemistry program. Evidence of teaching experience is an asset.The successful candidate will bring complementary experience and expertise that will support the diversification of our curriculum and research interests. We are seeking a candidate with the capability to engage and inspire students in their academic work, and who will show initiative in contributing to the department’s programs and curriculum development.

Team

The successful candidate will join the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry team which consists of 12 research-active professors and 10 instructors. In addition to a strong undergraduate program with majors in both Chemistry and Biochemistry, the department has a thriving graduate program with a total of 60-70 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. The Department is proud of the state-of-the-art Science Commons Building, which contains shared and dedicated lab space for the new position. This 38,500 m2 building houses facilities and laboratory spaces that foster collaborations within and between disciplines. In addition to the University of Lethbridge, Alberta and Montana are home to many important research facilities, including the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada research station, the National Centre for Animal Diseases of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and the University of Montana. The Department maintains long-term collaborations with each of these institutions.

The University of Lethbridge offers competitive benefits; the annual starting salary will be between $79,132 – $92,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
