The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Lethbridge invites applications for a full-time Biochemistry Instructor for a 12-month term from Jan. 1, 2023 to Dec. 31, 2023, subject to budgetary approval. Hiring salary will be in the range of $58,000-$73,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum qualifications include a doctoral degree; relevant postdoctoral and teaching experience are desirable. Duties will include delivery of a third-year course in Biochemistry (on a topic to be agreed upon by the successful candidate and department chair), a second-year Nutrition course for non-majors and undergraduate lab teaching. This Instructor will also be responsible for managing one of our iGEM teams (https://igem.org), iGEM-related courses and coordinating the iGEM team’s activities, including travel to the international competition. Well-equipped biochemistry research laboratories, cutting-edge research equipment and core facilities with specialized instruments are available to support the iGEM mission.
Our Team: The successful candidate will be joining the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry which consists of 23 members (14 research-active faculty members and 9 instructors) and 60-70 graduate students. The Department is proud to be housed in the 38,500-m2, state-of-the-art Science Commons (www.destinationproject.ca) which houses world class facilities and laboratory spaces that foster collaborations within and between disciplines.
