Biochemistry and Cell Biology (BCB) Student Article award
Purpose: This award recognizes the best article published in BCB by a student first author who is an active member of the Canadian Society for Molecular Biosciences (CSMB).
Prize: The award carries a $1000 CDN prize that can be applied towards travel costs to the CSMB annual meeting, where the award will be presented, or another meeting of the recipient’s choice.
Nomination procedure: When the corresponding author submits their article to the journal, they can select the option during the submission procedure to opt-in for consideration of the award for any article with a student as first author.
Evaluation process: In April of each year (starting 2019), the BCB Editorial Board will review all nominated articles that are received during the previous calendar year. Each article will be evaluated and ranked based on a set of criteria by the Editorial Board members. Criteria for evaluating articles will include novelty of research, quality of the contribution, and evidence for advancing knowledge. The BCB Co-Editors will review the rankings of the evaluated articles and make a final selection for the award. The recipient will be notified prior to the CSMB annual meeting (typically held in May).
Award presentation: The award will be presented to the recipient or one of the recipient’s colleagues at the CSMB annual meeting.
