The Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the CancerCare Manitoba Research Institute beginning January 4, 2022 or as soon thereafter as possible. The appointment will be at a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD and several years of postdoctoral experience with strong demonstrated experience in cancer research. Potential areas of research include, but are not restricted to, molecular biology, tumor immunology, genomics or hematopoiesis. The successful candidate will be offered a primary appointment in either the Department of Biochemistry & Medical Genetics, or the Department of Immunology depending on their individual qualifications and expertise. The successful candidate will be a Scientist of the CancerCare Manitoba Research Institute.
The Institute and The Rady Faculty of Health Sciences have strong interdisciplinary and translational research teams in several areas of cancer research, including leukemia, ovarian cancer, colorectal cancer and lung cancer. The successful candidate is expected to develop an independently funded research program within the Institute and collaborate with clinical departments and, it is hoped, the research teams described above. The selected individual will also contribute to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels in their primary department and service-related activities.

The Research Institute is based at CancerCare Manitoba, the sole provider of cancer services to the Province with outstanding opportunities for clinical and translational collaboration. The Institute is an established centre of excellence in research in leukemia and cell death, and provides extensive infrastructure support to its researchers with the generous support of the Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation.
CancerCare Manitoba is affiliated with The University of Manitoba and The Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, a major center of medical education and research linked to sister institutions throughout Canada and the world. The University offers a full range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs embracing basic biomedical sciences, clinical medicine and population health. Candidates are encouraged to forward a CV, a letter of introduction, a 5 year research plan and the names of three referees in confidence. The research plan should be up to 5 pages in length including figures and be written along the lines of a research grant application and include major objectives, background, rationale, aims and experimental program.
